City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
STAFF REPORT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the City Manager
DATE: September 29, 2025
SUBJECT
Award contract to Wood Rodgers, Inc. for the design and construction administration of the Redwood
Creek Channel Improvement Near 1180 Main Street Project
RECOMMENDATION
1. By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute the Agreement for Services with Wood
Rodgers, Inc. for the design and construction administration of the Redwood Creek Channel
Improvement Near 1180 Main Street Project in the amount of $203,412, and
2. By motion, authorize the City Manager, or their designee, to increase the contract amount, if
necessary, up to 10 percent above the contract amount, for a not-to-exceed total in the amount of
$223,754.
STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE
Public Safety
BACKGROUND
Redwood Creek and its tributaries comprise about eight miles of waterway and convey storm water run-
off from the Emerald Hills and nearby watersheds through Redwood City to the San Francisco Bay. Several
miles of the creek and tributaries were lined with concrete in the late 1960’s as part of the creek
improvements funded by property owners within Redwood Creek’s drainage basin through the General
Improvement District 1-65. Sections of Redwood Creek were channelized to avoid overflowing and
flooding conditions and provide erosion protection, and to address health and safety issues associated
with silt buildup, trash and debris, mosquito and insect breeding, and overgrowth of vegetative matter.
Over time, some concrete creek wall structures developed deficiencies that now require full restoration.
7.B. - Page 1 of 25
11
