Page 1 of 3 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: September 29, 2025 <br />SUBJECT <br />Consent to Assignment Agreement with ReaderLink Distribution Services, LLC to provide library materials <br />and processing services <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute the Consent to Assignment Agreement <br />from Baker & Taylor, LLC to ReaderLink Distribution Services, LLC for that certain Agreement for <br />Professional Services entered into as of December 20, 2017 amended by Amendment Nos. 1 and 2 and <br />effective through February 9, 2026. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />Redwood City Public Library (“Library”) purchases the majority of new items for its collections from <br />wholesale distributors who maintain large inventories of titles from many publishers and producers. <br />Obtaining books and media through these suppliers offers many advantages over purchasing from <br />individual publishers including: <br />Higher discounts off of the list, or retail, prices, <br />Larger and more varied inventories, <br />Efficiencies in placing orders and processing payments, <br />Greater use of technologies needed to communicate with library databases and systems, and <br />The option to deliver the books and media circulation-ready with physical processing and <br />cataloging information provided by the supplier <br />7.E. - Page 1 of 28 <br />154
