Page 1 of 15 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: September 29, 2025 <br />SUBJECT <br />Vision Zero Program Progress Report Study Session <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Receive an update and provide individual feedback on Vision Zero activities; no formal action will occur <br />at this time. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Public Safety <br />BACKGROUND <br />Vision Zero is an international movement and a data-driven strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and <br />severe injuries while increasing safe, healthy, and equitable mobility for all. <br />Based on the Redwood City Police Department data between 2019 and 2024, 3,287 collisions happened <br />in Redwood City (657 annually). Of these collisions, 18 percent (591 collisions) involved pedestrians and <br />bicyclists and three percent (112 collisions) resulted in a fatal or severe injury. <br />Through its policy direction the City Council has emphasized the importance of reducing traffic collisions. <br />As part of this effort, the 2018 Citywide Transportation Plan, RWCmoves, set a goal to eliminate <br />transportation-related fatalities and severe injuries by 2030. Building on this vision, the City Council <br />approved the Redwood City Walk Bike Thrive Plan in June 2022. This plan combines a citywide bicycle and <br />pedestrian master plan with the Vision Zero action plan. This update serves as the biennial Vision Zero <br />Program update to the City Council. <br />11.A. - Page 1 of 15 <br />384
