These projects are planned and built as part of a development project, <br />roadway pavement project, or through the neighborhood traffic calming program. A few active projects <br />include the following: <br />- Vera Permanent Bicycle Boulevard Project: The project design is 100% completed. The project <br />received a construction grant from TA. Construction is planned for early 2026. The project scope <br />includes repavement. <br />- El Camino Real and James Avenue Intersection Safety Improvement: The design is 100% complete <br />and the Caltrans encroachment permit has been requested. The project received a construction <br />grant from the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA). Construction is planned for 2026. <br />- El Camino Real Bike Lanes (Brewster Avenue to Madison Avenue): The project design is 100% <br />complete and the Caltrans encroachment permit has been requested. Construction is planned for <br />2026. <br />- Roosevelt Avenue Traffic Calming Project: A two-phase project. The quick-build construction was <br />completed in 2023. The permanent project design is underway, with construction of permanent <br />traffic calming improvements planned for summer 2026. The project scope includes repavement. <br />- Jefferson Avenue Traffic Safety Project (El Camino Real to Fram Hill Boulevard): Planning study and <br />conceptual design will be completed in November 2025. Engineering design phase will begin in <br />early 2026. Construction is planned for 2027. The project scope includes repavement. <br />- Bay Road Complete Streets Project (5th to 15th Streets): The project received a design and <br />construction grant. The project is coordinated with the County of San Mateo because Bay Road is <br />owned by both the City and County. The design contract and a Memorandum of Understanding <br />(MOU) with County of San Mateo will be brought to the City Council for approval in October 2025. <br />The project scope includes repavement. <br />Other Infrastructure Solutions <br />Other infrastructure solutions that could address the main collision profiles in Redwood City and, if <br />feasible, be implemented relatively quickly are: <br />Speed feedback signs <br />Speed humps <br />Roadway re-striping and, as part of pavement projects, narrowing streets and adding bicycle <br />facilities, if feasible, such as Arguello Street cycle track and upcoming Broadway pavement project <br />Changing regular crosswalks to high-visibility crosswalks; and <br />Adding Pedestrian Leading Intervals (LPI) at any new or replaced signals such as the recent LPI at <br />the intersection of Bay Road and Fifth Avenue. <br />Implementing these strategies relies on sufficient funding and community acceptance. The City also <br />requires private developments to contribute to improvements around their project site. <br />11.A. - Page 10 of 15 <br />393
