REV: 08-14-25 LF
Exhibit A of this Agreement, Consultant shall follow the procedures outlined in the
RWQCB approved workplan.
Task 3.1 - Task Management & Field Preparation
Consultant shall implement the soil vapor investigation workplan by conducting pre-
construction planning and pre-field activities in coordination with the City.
Once the workplan and access agreements are finalized, Consultant shall submit for the
City’s review a proposed schedule, pre-construction plan, schedule a pre-construction
site meeting with the City, and an implementation plan.
Prior to implementing the workplan, Consultant shall prepare a site-specific health and
safety plan for the field work in accordance with applicable regulations.
Consultant shall conduct a site visit to mark drilling locations for Underground Services
Alert notification. Consultant shall clear proposed boring locations by determining the
locations of all subsurface utilities that could potentially be impacted by the Consultant’s
work. If any boring locations need to be adjusted due to access limitations, presence of
utilities or equipment, and/or surface conditions, Consultant shall inform and obtain the
City’s approval before making adjustments.
Consultant shall schedule all subcontractors, obtain sampling equipment from the
laboratory, notify the property owners of the work, establish staging areas, and place no
parking signs and any other appropriate traffic control measures in the parking areas prior
to initiating the work.
Consultant must provide advance notification to the City prior to beginning any work on
site, describing the anticipated activities to be performed and start and end dates and
times. Based on prior and existing access agreements, Consultant will prepare to
conduct all field work at night, which includes but is not limited to soil vapor well installation
and soil vapor sample collection, unless otherwise directed by the City. Consultant must
notify the City immediately if there are any unexpected issues that occur onsite.
Task 3.2 – Soil Vapor Well Installation
Consultant shall install soil vapor wells. Consultant shall have a Professional Geologist
observing all drilling activities that are conducted. Consultant shall use a rig to advance
an outer-drive rod casing at a diameter as approved by the RWQCB lined with acetate
sampling sleeve in which the soil core is retained and brought to the surface. Consultant
shall geologically log continuous core soil samples using the Unified Soil Classification
System and screen for volatile organic compounds using a photoionization detector.
Consultant shall install a total of approximately 12 soil vapor wells by advancing a boring
at specific diameter, depths, and locations as approved by the RWQCB. If approved by
the City, Consultant may hand augur for the first five feet of depth or the full depth instead
of using direct-push if it is necessary to avoid damaging subsurface utilities. Consultant
shall insert into the borehole filter pack sand and a Teflon tube with a non-reactive screen.
ATTY/AGR.2025.210/Farallon Consulting, LLC (Soil vapor investigation & groundwater sampling) (Page 12 of 19)
