City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
The City Engineer has determined that the improvements specified in the project plans and specifications
for the Jardin de Niños Park Expansion Project have been completed. Therefore, staff recommend final
acceptance of the project, the release of all bonds and retention, and the filing of a notice of completion.
The total change order cost to McNabb Construction, Inc. is $4,654, less than 1% over the contract
amount. One change order was necessary to modify stormwater bubbler boxes and surfacing materials,
to replace an undersized post holding up the existing chain link fence, to add rebar to the classroom floor,
and haul-off excess earthwork. The total contract amount with change orders was $496,146.
Future Phases
Phase 6, the final phase of the project, includes landscaping, fence installation, and art (cladding over the
frame). Phase 6 began in August 2025 and completion is anticipated in January 2026. The park will be
fully open to the public in early 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT
No additional funding is needed for the two contracts associated with Phase 5 of the project. The final
contract amounts are shown in Table 2.
Table 2: Jardin De Ninos Park Expansion Project Contract Amounts
Bidders Base Bid
Amount
Change Order
Amount
Amount with
Change Orders
Authorized
Contingency Amount
McNabb Construction, Inc.$491,491 $4,655 $496,146 $540,640
Park Planet $159,856 $0 $159,856 $175,842
Contracts Total $651,347 $4,655 $656,002 $716,482
This park expansion project, including these two contracts, was funded by several sources.
