These plans are crucial for aligning BCC
efforts with the City Council’s Strategic Plan, which is built on the principle of Equity and targets key areas
like Housing, Transportation, and Children and Youth.
Comprising seven City Council-appointed community members, the Senior Affairs Commission (SAC)
serves in an advisory capacity. Its mandate includes recommending to the City Council or Manager the
establishment of senior programs and services, encouraging their development and maintenance city-
wide, and conducting periodic reviews of existing programs.
The Commission’s mission statement is “…to encourage, foster, facilitate, establish and maintain
programs for the enhancement of all matters relating to the social, economic, and personal wellbeing of
the City’s senior population.”
8.B. - Page 1 of 48
58
