While driving is the clear primary choice, other transportation methods are used as alternatives, <br />depending on the destination. <br />Rides from Friends/Family are the second most common mode of transportation for social <br />activities and medical appointments, with 17.76% of respondents using this method to visit <br />friends or relatives and 14.71% using it for healthcare. <br />Walking is a notable alternative for local errands. It's the second most used method for trips to <br />the Drugstore/Pharmacy (10.6%), Grocery Shopping (8.29%), and Personal Business <br />(7.5%). <br />Uber/Lyft and public transportation (Bus, Train) are used by a very small percentage of the <br />respondents for all listed destinations. <br />Least Used Transportation <br />Methods such as Taxi, RediWheels, Car Share, and Wheelchair/Scooter are consistently <br />the least used, with usage rates rarely exceeding 2% for any destination. <br />7. Do you avoid using public transportation (CalTrain, SamTrans, or RediWheels) for any of <br />the following reasons? <br />The top reasons people avoid using public transportation are that they drive everywhere and that the <br />trips take too long. A significant number of respondents also reported having no problems with public <br />transportation. <br />Primary Reasons for Avoiding Public Transportation <br />The most common reason for avoiding public transportation is a personal preference for <br />driving. 85 respondents (46%) stated, "I drive everywhere." <br />The second most frequent reason is the time commitment. 45 respondents (24%) said, "It <br />takes too long to get to the destination." <br />Other Concerns and Reasons <br />A significant portion of respondents, 35 people (19%), indicated that they have no problems <br />using public transportation. This suggests that for a considerable group, public transit is a <br />viable option. <br />Other notable reasons for avoidance include the service not arriving often enough (18%), <br />difficulty getting to the bus station (15%), and the service not frequenting their destination <br />or safety concerns (14% each). <br />Cost is one of the least common reasons, with only 8 respondents (4%) citing expensive <br />tickets. <br />8. If you currently use or would like to use public transportation, which of the following would <br />INCREASE your usage? <br />The most significant factor that would increase public transportation usage is more frequent <br />service.
