Key Factors to Increase Usage
The top three factors that would encourage respondents to use public transportation more frequently
are:
1.More frequent public transportation: This was the most-cited factor, with 69 respondents
(47%) selecting it. This indicates that reliability and reduced wait times are a major concern.
2.Shade or a bus shelter: This was the second-highest response, chosen by 60 people (41%).
This highlights the importance of comfort and protection from the elements at bus stops.
3.Benches and information and route maps at the bus stop: Both of these factors were
selected by 58 respondents (39%), emphasizing the desire for physical comfort and clear
information at waiting areas.
Other Contributing Factors
Better routes: 37% of respondents (55 people) said that better routes would increase their
usage, suggesting that current routes may not align with their destinations.
Less standing and fewer stairs to climb were also significant factors, chosen by 35% (52
people) and 32% (47 people) respectively. This points to a need for improved physical comfort
and accessibility.
Safety was cited by 31% (46 people), indicating it is a notable concern for many users.
Cost was a less significant factor, with only 19% (28 people) saying that less expensive tickets
would increase their usage.
The options related to language (Multi-Language Signage and Information in my language)
were the least selected factors.
9. In the past month, were you unable to reach any of the following destinations due to a lack
of transportation or difficulty walking?
Many respondents had no trouble reaching their destinations. However, for those who did face
issues, the most common difficulty was getting to social/recreational destinations and healthcare
appointments.
Key Findings
108 respondents (69%) reported having no trouble getting to any of the listed destinations.
This indicates that for a significant majority, transportation or mobility issues are not a barrier.
For the portion of respondents who did report issues, the top three destinations they were
unable to reach were:
1.Social / Recreational / Restaurants: 13% (21 people)
2.Healthcare / Doctors: 11% (17 people)
8.B. - Page 15 of 48
72
