3.Drugstore / Pharmacy: 10% (15 people)
The destinations with the fewest reported access issues were Work (1%), Places of Worship
(4%), and Volunteer Activity (4%).
10. If you usually walk to all of your destinations, which of these has been a problem?
Most respondents do not usually walk to all of their destinations. For those who do, driver behavior
and sidewalk conditions are the most common problems.
Key Findings
111 respondents (68%) stated they do not usually walk to destinations, indicating that this
question applies to a smaller subset of the total survey population.
For the 53 respondents who answered the question, the most frequent problems were:
1.Driver behavior: 22% of all respondents (36 people) cited this as a problem, making it
the most common issue.
2.Sidewalk holes or bumps: 20% of all respondents (33 people) reported this as a
problem.
Other Issues
Difficulty crossing streets was an issue for 12% of respondents.
Problems related to rest, shade, and quickly changing traffic signals were also noted by 10% of
respondents each.
The least common problems were related to signs being difficult to read, construction, and
curbs being too high.
11. Are you aware of any of the following free or low-cost transportation services for seniors
in Redwood City?
Based on the survey data provided, the majority of respondents are not familiar with the free or low-
cost transportation services available for seniors in Redwood City. Among those who are, familiarity
with a few key services stands out.
Key Findings
The most significant finding is that 42% of respondents (83 people) are not familiar with any
of the services listed. This indicates a major gap in awareness about available transportation
resources for seniors.
Despite the general lack of awareness, SamTrans Redi Wheels is the most recognized
service, with 43% of respondents (84 people) aware of it.
The Veterans Memorial Senior Center is the next most familiar service, with 19% of
respondents (37 people) aware of its transportation programs.
8.B. - Page 16 of 48
73
