Focus group participants identified a lack of <br />transportation as a reason for isolation. <br />Focus groups thought education would help to <br />familiarize older adults with public <br />transportation and ride sharing options. <br />Pedestrian safety was identified as a need by <br />focus groups, including cross walk signals, <br />sidewalk repairs, clear signage, and lighting. <br />Challenges <br />Transportation <br />Assets & Challenges <br />Assets <br />Key Program <br />Transportation Survey <br />The Redwood City Senior Affairs Commission is <br />conducting a survey to learn about the travel behavior <br />and transportation needs of Redwood City seniors. <br />This resident input will provide valuable insight into <br />community issues and will guide strategic decisions <br />and priorities for our senior community. <br />AGE-FRIENDLY REDWOOD CITY PAGE 8 <br />The Redwood City Walk Bike Thrive plan, which <br />includes priorities for improving pedestrian and <br />bike infrastructure, was approved in June 2022. <br />Villages of San Mateo County offers members <br />rides to appointments, groceries, and more. <br />The Veteran's Memorial Senior Center (VMSC) <br />has vans that can be used to transport seniors <br />to field trips and the senior center. <br />8.B. - Page 30 of 48 <br />87
