Dog Waste Bags
As part of the RCIA’s continued efforts to
enhance the overall visitor experience in
Downtown Redwood City, new branded dog
waste bag dispensers will be updated throughout
the downtown area. These dispensers aim to
support pet-friendly visits while encouraging
cleanliness and civic responsibility among pet
owners. The dispensers will be maintained
regularly and are in high-foot-traffic areas
frequented by dog walkers.
RCIA/City Partnership
The RCIA and the City of Redwood City
partnership will continue through 2024-2025 to
collaborate on additional safety measures
and projects.
Installation of Trash and Recycling Containers
Appropriately and strategically placing garbage
and recycling containers can significantly
enhance the aesthetic appeal and cleanliness of
downtown. The RCIA will invest more towards
the purchase and installation of new garbage and
recycling containers for downtown’s high-traffic
zones where proper waste disposal is
not available.
Elves on the Shop Shelves
Campaign
To encourage holiday shopping at local Redwood
City businesses and increase foot traffic to
downtown, the RCIA is looking into creating a
youth scavenger hunt during the holiday season
titled “Elves on the Shop Shelves.” The holiday
campaign will encourage shopping at local
Redwood City businesses and be promoted
through social media and newsletter channels.
2024 ANNUAL REPORT • PAGE 15
Pedestrian Mall Funding
To enhance the pedestrian experience in
Downtown Redwood City, the RCIA plans
to allocate further funding, with the City of
Redwood City, toward planning and infrastructure
for the Pedestrian Mall on the 2000 block of
Broadway. This initiative aims to further activate
the corridor by improving walkability, supporting
local businesses, and creating a more inviting
environment for residents and visitors alike.
8.A. - Page 19 of 33
31
