Used primarily by tactical teams, it is designed to penetrate barriers, such as <br />windows, hollow core doors, wallboard and thin plywood. Upon impacting the barrier, the <br />nose cone ruptures and instantaneously delivers a small chemical payload inside of a <br />structure or vehicle. <br />In a tactical deployment situation, the 40mm Ferret is primarily used to dislodge barricaded <br />subjects from confined areas. Its purpose is to minimize the risks to all parties through pain <br />compliance, temporary discomfort and/or incapacitation of potentially violent or dangerous <br />subjects. <br />Purpose/Authorized Uses: These devices are all expired. They are only used for training <br />purposes. <br />Fiscal Impacts: Unknown at time of purchase. Approximately $20 each <br />Legal/Procedural Rules Governing Use: Applicable Redwood City Training and Safety <br />policies as well as Use of Force and SWAT policies. <br />Training Required: Only trained members of the SWAT team are authorized to deploy this <br />device.
