The AVATAR® Tactical Robot <br />from RoboteX® is an affordable tactical robot that is easy to use and allows for quick and safe <br />inspection of dangerous situations. <br />Purpose/Authorized Uses: These devices are intended to be used to search dangerous <br />areas before placing personnel in harm’s way. They can be used to remotely gain <br />visual/audio data, deliver a negotiation phone, open doors, disrupt packages and clear <br />buildings <br />Fiscal Impacts: Initial cost -Unknown. These items were obtained through OES funds over <br />10 years ago. There are no ongoing maintenance costs. <br />Legal/Procedural Rules Governing Use: It is the practice of the Redwood City Police <br />Department to utilize a robot only for official law enforcement purposes in a manner <br />consistent with State and Federal law.
