1 <br />EXHIBIT A-1 <br />PROPOSED NEW JOB DESCRIPTION <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />FIREFIGHTER/ENGINEER PARAMEDIC <br />DEFINITION <br />To perform firefighting and fire prevention activities in protecting life and property; to <br />operate and maintain firefighting apparatus and equipment; to provide medical <br />assistance; to perform minor station maintenance; and to participate in a wide variety <br />of training to maintain task skills. In addition, as a Paramedic, provide Advanced Life <br />Support first responder pre-hospital emergency medical care and emergency medical <br />assistance to victims of accidents, injuries or illness. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br />General supervision is provided by a Fire Captain. <br />Ability to exercise limited supervision. <br />EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br />Firefighter/Engineer <br />1.Drive and operate fire apparatus. <br />2.Respond to fire, rescue, medical and other public service calls. <br />3.Operate a wide variety of specialized manual/powered tools, hose and ladders <br />under hazardous conditions. <br />4.Maintain all tools and equipment. <br />5.Operate a variety of specialized medical equipment before and during <br />emergency situations. <br />6.Participate in a variety of training relating to all types of emergency and non- <br />emergency responses. <br />7.Participate in fire prevention inspections and pre-fire planning. <br />8.Participate in Fire Prevention education and public relations. <br />9.Assist in fire investigations. <br />ATTY/RESO.0107/CC RESO AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY AND WAGE PLAN (FIREFIGHTER AND PARAMEDIC) - EXHIBIT A <br />REV: 10-31-25 MI
