CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />FIREFIGHTER/ENGINEER/PARAMEDIC (Continued) <br />4 <br />Experience and Training Guidelines: <br />A typical way to demonstrate the applicant possesses the required knowledge <br />and abilities may be obtained through the following ways: <br />1.Minimum of 30 semester college units. Completion of college credits in <br />the study of Fire Science or similar field. <br />2.High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D. or California Certificate of <br />Proficiency). <br />3.Successful completion of a Firefighter I equivalent training program, or <br />possession of a California State Fire Training Firefighter I certificate. <br />Certification and License: <br />1.Possession of a valid California Paramedic License. <br />2.Provide proof of a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) <br />certificate prior to appointment to the classification of <br />Firefighter/Engineer. CPAT must be current. <br />3.Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver's License by date <br />of hire. If issued by another state, must obtain a California Driver’s License <br />prior to appointment. Driving record will be reviewed and any infractions will <br />be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. <br />Special Requirements: <br />Essential duties require the following physical abilities and work environment: <br />Eighteen (18) years of age; <br />Vision Standards: Must pass a pre-employment medical exam according to <br />the standards set by The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) and <br />Freedom from color blindness; <br />Hearing Standards: Must pass a pre-employment medical exam according to <br />NFPA; <br />Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, crawl, twist, climb, <br />lift and carry in excess of 100 lbs.; pull and/or drag 175 lbs.; work in the <br />following environments: cold, extreme heat, extreme noise, outdoors, confining <br />ATTY/RESO.0107/CC RESO AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY AND WAGE PLAN (FIREFIGHTER AND PARAMEDIC) - EXHIBIT A <br />REV: 10-31-25 MI
