CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />FIREFIGHTER/ENGINEER/PARAMEDIC (Continued) <br />5 <br />work spaces, elevated areas; work with electrical hazards, vibration, <br />chemicals, dust, toxic waste, mechanical hazards, and explosive materials; <br />availability for shift work. <br />Paramedic <br />In addition to the Job Related and Essential Qualifications for Firefighter/Engineer: <br />Knowledge of: <br />Advanced Life Support pre-hospital emergency medical care techniques, <br />principles and practices. <br />Basic human anatomy and physiology. <br />Medical terminology, techniques and processes used in the description and <br />assessment of patient status. <br />Categories, applications, contraindications and appropriate dosage levels of <br />paramedic medications. <br />Procedures and equipment used in monitoring vital signs. <br />Symptoms of impaired cardiac and respiratory functioning, altered states of <br />consciousness, various types of toxicity, poisoning, shock and common <br />diseases. <br />Applicable laws, codes, and ordinances relating to emergency medical care. <br />Basic arithmetic. <br />Ability to: <br />Observe/evaluate patient status and conditions at the scene. <br />Determine appropriate basic/advanced life support procedures and make <br />paramedical decisions rapidly under stressful conditions. <br />Perform basic/advanced life support procedures including cardiac and <br />pulmonary resuscitation, cardiac monitoring, and defibrillation, trauma response <br />and administration of medications. <br />Communicate technical information effectively with those encountered in the <br />course of work. <br />ATTY/RESO.0107/CC RESO AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY AND WAGE PLAN (FIREFIGHTER AND PARAMEDIC) - EXHIBIT A <br />REV: 10-31-25 MI
