6 <br /> <br />Key Takeaways of the Policy Documents <br />1. Downtown Precise Plan (DTPP) was first adopted in 2011 and then amended in 2018 and 2023. <br />Based on the most recent amendment in 2023: <br />• Residential developments are mandated to provide one bicycle parking space per dwelling <br />unit, emphasizing the importance of accommodating cyclists within residential <br />communities. <br />• Nonresidential developments must allocate one bicycle parking space per 2,000 square <br />feet of gross floor area, ensuring that businesses and public spaces cater to the cycling <br />community. <br />• Projects are encouraged to refer to the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle <br />Professionals (APBP) Guidelines or city-adopted guidelines for comprehensive direction <br />on short- and long-term bicycle parking, fostering consistency in planning and design. <br /> <br />2. Redwood City Zoning Code: <br />• Currently, for areas outside of DTPP, the required bicycle parking is determined by the <br />total number of vehicle parking and based on the specific zoning codes, as outlined in <br />Sections 30, 53.6, 54.6, 57.6, and 55.8 of the Zoning Code. <br /> <br />See Appendix A for excerpts related to bicycle parking from each document. <br /> <br />Redwood City Contacts and Responsibilities <br />The City’s zoning code shall guide compliance with bicycle parking requirements for new or <br />retrofitted projects. Any coordination and questions regarding bicycle parking quantity, design, <br />placement, etc., shall be directed to the City’s transportation staff.
