Engineering <br />staff confirmed that the work meets City standards and is in acceptable condition for final acceptance and <br />close-out. Upon City Council approval of final acceptance, staff will release the project’s final payment <br />and performance bonds and file a Notice of Completion. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, accept the Sanitary Sewer Pump Station 8 & 9 Improvements Project and authorize the release <br />of performance bonds and retention according to City procedures. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Public Safety <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City of Redwood City has 31 sanitary sewer pump stations, including 26 located in Redwood Shores. <br />As a part of the Capital Improvements Program, the City routinely replaces deteriorating sanitary sewer <br />infrastructure, including sanitary sewer pump stations and pipelines, to ensure the continued reliability <br />of the system. Pump stations are prioritized for rehabilitation based on existing facility conditions, <br />capacity, performance, resilience, and operational criticality. Sanitary Sewer Pump Stations 8 & 9 were <br />selected for improvements based on these condition assessment criteria. As shown in Figure 1 (below), <br />Pump Station No. 8 (PS-8) is located in Redwood Shores along Davit Lane, between Marlin Drive and <br />8.E. - Page 1 of 5 <br />124
