Page 1 of 4 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: December 22, 2025 <br />SUBJECT <br />Award contract to ACCO Engineered Systems, Inc. for the Municipal Service Center HVAC Replacement <br />Project <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br />The heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system inside the Municipal Service Center <br />Administrative Building has reached the end of its lifecycle and must be replaced as soon as possible. The <br />existing system is antiquated and many of the components cannot be replaced if they fail. In order to <br />ensure the facility can always maintain comfortable temperatures for staff and visitors, the system will <br />need to be replaced prior to the next cooling season. The proposed action will allow staff to award the <br />project and begin executing the necessary steps to move forward. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute the contract documents and award the <br />standard form contract for the Municipal Service Center HVAC Replacement Project to ACCO Engineered <br />Systems, Inc. of Pasadena, CA for their responsive and responsible low total bid of $985,121, and authorize <br />the City Manager or their designee to increase the contract amount, if necessary, up to 15% of the amount <br />awarded in an amount not to exceed $147,769 for a total amount of $1,132,890. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City of Redwood City (City) Public Works Services (PWS) Department is responsible for replacing HVAC <br />8.G. - Page 1 of 4 <br />184
