The Crime Analyst’s <br />expertise in database management and information collection would ensure efficient use of resources <br />reducing costs, and enhance overall departmental operations. As the liaison between the Department’s <br />Records Unit and the City’s Information Technology Department, the Crime Analyst would ensure <br />effective information collection and address any database issues that may arise. They would also be able <br />to share information with neighboring law enforcement agencies and develop a broader view of crime <br />trends within the region. The new position would contribute to evidence-based decision making, resource <br />management, and ultimately, improved safety and security of the community. <br /> <br />The new classification of Crime Analyst will be represented by the Redwood City Management Employees’ <br />Association (RCMEA). Based on a review of comparator agencies and internal classifications that perform <br />comparable duties, it is recommended that the salary range for this classification be set the same as <br />Human Resources Analyst I/II with salary range of $115,048.18 – 151,331.18 annually. Staff has met and <br />conferred with RCMEA. <br />EQUITY IMPACT STATEMENT <br />All City actions are assessed for impact.
