Page 8 of 9 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />o Support expansion of peer-to-peer support for case management, connections to services, <br />and assistance navigating systems  <br />o Develop an online benefits calculator to estimate eligible benefits and how benefits change <br />in different scenarios   <br />o Provide outreach, training, and resources for leadership in underrepresented communities   <br /> <br />Redwood City Together and the Community Collaborative for Children’s Success have committed <br />to:  <br />o Create youth jobs as part of the United for Youth plan funded by the San Mateo County Office <br />of Education  <br />o Survey local organizations on their current hiring practices and opportunities for paid youth <br />positions  <br />o Develop a toolkit to support youth and employer success  <br />o Test at least one strategy for identifying and sharing youth job opportunities  <br />Sobrato Philanthropies has planned a ten-year investment in Redwood City, North Fair Oaks, and <br />East and Downtown San Jose to strengthen paths to economic opportunity to increase financial <br />security, well-being, and community cohesion through cradle-to-career approaches.  <br />Aligned actions will be reported as a non-comprehensive summary, highlighting especially relevant or new <br />examples of work to deepen understanding and awareness of the many actions moving the Redwood City <br />community towards the desired outcomes identified in the EMAP. <br />A work plan for the monitoring and reporting of this data will be developed once the City’s currently <br />vacant Equity and Inclusion Officer position is refilled next year. <br />EQUITY IMPACT STATEMENT <br />The Background and Analysis sections of this staff report summarize how the adoption of an economic <br />mobility action plan will advance the City vision of being a community where people of all backgrounds <br />and income levels can thrive, the manners in which existing disparities have been taken into consideration <br />in its design (including through extensive community engagement and particular outcomes selected for <br />focus), and how we will confirm that our impact aligns with our intent over time by monitoring and <br />reporting on relevant indicators and success metrics. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />No fiscal impact is estimated at this time. The EMAP, as currently proposed, is designed within the <br />resource constraints of current City budget and staffing levels. The pursuit of additional City strategies for <br />advancing economic mobility, like updating procurement policies to further encourage use of local <br />suppliers, or launching new direct programming to support jobseekers, would require the investment of <br />new funding to increase capacity for performing such work.   <br />10.D. - Page 8 of 13 <br />844
