City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
Attend or host a booth at a minimum of two community events per year to gather
feedback and share information with commission.
Assign commissioners as liaisons to neighborhood associations to build local
relationships.
Facilitate or support at least one neighborhood-led event at a local park by year two
(through guidance, promotion, or volunteer assistance).
Commissioners attend at least one meeting of the YAB/TAB and one of the Senior Affairs
Commission each year to exchange ideas and identify needs and opportunities for
commission support.
3. Improve Field Allocation for Youth and Community Equity
By year one, review and summarize the City’s current field allocation policies/practices
and identify any equity gaps.
Consult major field user groups or hold one listening session to gather community
feedback on field access needs.
Develop and present a set of recommendations for policy updates to ensure equitable
field use by end of year two.
EQUITY IMPACT STATEMENT
The Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission Work Plan for FY 2025–26 and FY 2026–27
advances Redwood City’s vision of an equitable, inclusive community by prioritizing fair access to parks,
recreation programs, and community spaces for residents of all backgrounds and ages. Through a focus
on park amenity equity and sustainability, expanded community engagement, and more transparent and
equitable field allocation practices, the Commission’s work supports City Council priorities related to
equity and children and youth while strengthening community trust and participation. These efforts aim
to reduce disparities in access to public amenities and decision-making by centering data-informed
practices, inclusive outreach, and meaningful collaboration with neighborhoods and community
stakeholders. Progress will be measured through completion of equity and sustainability audits, increased
community participation and representation in engagement activities, and improved transparency and
satisfaction in field allocation processes, demonstrating success when park and recreation services reflect
community needs and all residents feel welcomed, supported, and served.
FISCAL IMPACT
Staff time is required to administer the work plan and to assist the PRCS Commission in achieving its
goals. It is not anticipated that an additional appropriation will be required this fiscal year.
8.A. - Page 4 of 14
198
