Page 1 of 5 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: January 26, 2026 <br />SUBJECT <br />Arts Commission Work Plan for Fiscal Years 2025-26 and 2026-27 <br />SUMMARY <br />The Redwood City Arts Commission has developed a new two-year Work Plan (FY 2025–2026 and FY 2026- <br />2027) in response to the City Council’s direction for all Boards, Commissions, and Committees to align <br />their efforts with the City’s strategic priorities of Equity, Housing, Transportation, and Children and Youth. <br />Building on the success of past initiatives, the plan focuses on strengthening community connection <br />through art, culture, and creativity. Key priorities include improving communication around public art, <br />improving the commissioner onboarding process, supporting developers with the Art in Public Places <br />Ordinance, increasing equity arts and cultural opportunities, increasing youth and teen engagement, <br />connecting the Redwood City community through public art experiences, gatherings and conversations <br />and making Redwood City the arts, entertainment and cultural destination of the Peninsula. Rooted in <br />equity, the plan ensures inclusive access and representation across all programs, with the goal of fostering <br />civic pride, expanding cultural opportunities, and celebrating the diversity that defines Redwood City. <br />Does the City Council have any questions regarding the proposed Arts Commission Work Plan for FY <br />2025 – 2027? <br />Does the City Council support the priorities included in the FY 2025-2027 Arts Commission Work <br />Plan? <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve the proposed Arts Commission Work Plan for FY 2025-2026 and FY 2026-2027. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />9.A. - Page 1 of 15 <br />120
