Page 1 of 10 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: January 26, 2026 <br />SUBJECT <br />Jefferson Avenue Traffic Safety Improvement Project update and proposed final engineering design and <br />construction <br />SUMMARY <br />Receive a summary of planning and community outreach activities for the Jefferson Avenue Traffic Safety <br />Improvement Project (project), which resulted in the development of two design alternatives <br />(Alternatives A and B), and approve the staff recommended Alternative B to advance the Project to the <br />completion of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (100 percent PS&E). <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Receive a summary update on the Jefferson Avenue Traffic Safety Improvement Project; and <br />2. By motion, approve Alternative B for final engineering design and construction. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Public Safety <br />BACKGROUND <br />Since 2020 and with adoption of City’s new Strategic Plan, “Transportation” has been one of the three <br />City Council’s Strategic Priorities along with “Housing” and “Children and Youth”. The City’s Strategic Plan <br />highlights creating and maintaining a multimodal, safe and accessible transportation network with the <br />goal to: <br />Implement the adopted Vision Zero Action Plan and eliminate fatalities and serous injuries related to <br />traffic collisions; <br />11.B. - Page 1 of 17 <br />178
