Page 1 of 3 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: January 26, 2026 <br />SUBJECT <br />Purchase of one trailer for police DUI enforcement operations <br />SUMMARY <br />On July 21, 2025, the City Council retroactively approved and accepted the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Cannabis <br />Tax Fund Grant for the Redwood City Police Department. The grant awarded $145,000 for the purchase <br />of a custom-built trailer to be used in law enforcement operations aimed at deterring cases of drivers <br />driving under the influence (DUI) within city limits. The DUI trailer is purpose-built to serve as a mobile <br />processing center at DUI checkpoints administered by the police department and can be towed between <br />sites as necessary. To receive reimbursement through the grant, staff must purchase the trailer and <br />document its use in operations before the end of Fiscal Year 2025-2026. The proposed action will allow <br />staff to execute a purchase agreement with the vendor and initiate the build process, with delivery <br />anticipated in March 2026. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a Purchase Agreement with TPD Trailers, <br />Inc. to supply a custom-built enclosed special operations trailer in the amount of $160,078. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />On July 21, 2025, the City Council approved and accepted the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Cannabis Tax Fund <br />Grant for the Redwood City Police Department (PD).
