6
Preferred Concept Design (Winter 2025)
Following a review of community feedback collected during Fall 2025 outreach, the project team will bring the two
design concepts to the City Council for their approval of a preferred alternative. Next step will be development of
engineering design documents for construction phase.
Per community feedback at the October 2025 meeting, the project team made minor modifications to the concept
prior to presentation to the City Council. The limits of Alternative B were revised to preserve the LOS at Hudson
Street. By maintaining two approach lanes in each direction on Jefferson Avenue at Hudson Street, the LOS of the
intersection is D during the morning and afternoon peak period.
Other modifications made to the preferred concept design include:
• A Class IV bikeway (physically separated bikeway) around the curve near Oak Ridge Drive.
• An improved bicycle crossing at the RRFB at King Street to better accommodate bicyclists turning to and
from Jefferson Avenue, particularly near the transition from one travel lane in each direction with dedicated
bike lanes to two travel lanes in each direction
• Sharrows on Iris Street north and south of Jefferson Avenue to designate Iris Street as a Class III bikeway
(bike route).
• Revised striping at Avenue del Ora to improve left-turn movements from Avenue del Ora onto Jefferson
Avenue.
Click here to see the refined concepts including the staff recommended Alternative B.
11.B. - Page 16 of 17
193
