Page 6 of 8 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />New benefits and benefit modifications include the following: <br />Bilingual Pay: Bilingual Premium Pay in the amount of $80 per pay period for a contract employee who <br />has passed the City’s proficiency test and is routinely and consistently assigned to job duties requiring <br />bilingual skills in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, or American Sign Language; or $120 per pay <br />period for the use of advanced skills in job duties arising during the normal course of work. Advanced <br />bilingual skills, for purposes of the advanced level pay differential, are defined as the ability to translate <br />and communicate beyond conversational speaking and/or basic writing. <br />Dental Insurance Cap Increase: Effective January 1, 2026, the dental insurance benefit which is currently <br />included in Levels III and IV benefit packages will increase to $2,500 annual cap each calendar year, <br />consistent with the benefit for regular employees represented by SEIU. The City will pay (90%) of the <br />dental insurance premium for employee and eligible dependents. <br />Bereavement Leave: Consistent with California law, all employees who have been employed by the City <br />for at least 30 days are entitled to 5 days of unpaid bereavement leave in the event of the death of a <br />“family member” as defined herein. Employees may use accrued and available vacation or sick leave in <br />order to provide for their compensation during any unpaid bereavement leave. Employees covered by <br />Levels III and IV benefit packages may be absent with pay up to three consecutive work days or four days <br />in the event the funeral is 300 or more miles from the City. Employees may take additional unpaid leave <br />for a total of five days of bereavement leave in the event of the death of a family member, and may use <br />accrued and available vacation or sick leave in order to provide for their compensation during any unpaid <br />bereavement leave <br />A “family member” means a spouse, registered domestic partner, child, stepchild, parent, grandparent, <br />grandchild, sibling, parent-in-law. <br />An employee may request bereavement leave to attend the funeral of a close relation not listed herein, <br />subject to the approval of the City Manager or designee. <br />EQUITY IMPACT STATEMENT <br />The anticipated impact of this Tentative Agreement has been assessed in the following ways: <br />Reviewed from similar or relevant past program or policy in Redwood City <br />Reviewed data from a similar program or policy in another jurisdiction <br />Reviewed data related to a standard or emerging best practice <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Salary and benefit changes throughout the term of this new Tentative Agreement represents a maximum <br />estimated fiscal impact of approximately $95,000. <br />- FY 2025-26 = $44,679 <br />8.E. - Page 6 of 31 <br />43
