REV: 01-21-26 LR
9.2 – Topographic Field Survey
The Consultant shall provide the field work to prepare a Topographic Survey for the length
of improvements on Price Avenue. The work is anticipated to include the following:
Field Survey: The Consultant shall conduct a topographic survey utilizing traditional
ground surveying methods to complete detailed topographic mapping of Price Avenue
from the Brewster Avenue intersection to the upstream end of the improvements at
Convention Way, an area approximately 900 feet by 50 feet. The survey will include, but
not be limited to, general topography, edge of roadway, curbs and gutters, top of curb,
back of walk, signs, and any visible infrastructure such as drainage improvements,
sanitary sewer, water, utility poles and overhead utilities. Accessible gravity utilities shall
be opened and “dipped” to obtain pipe size, direction, and invert elevation.
Underground Utility Locating: The Consultant’s in-house utility locators shall perform utility
investigation services using standard industry acceptable methods as per California
Government Code section 4216 to determine the approximate horizontal position and
depth of detectable utility lines within the area described above. The Consultant’s field
crews will use a water-based paint to mark the investigation results on the ground surface.
The Consultant may opt to use the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), if the soil conditions
will return a good signal to attempt to locate utility lines with no tracer wires. Individual field
conditions will dictate the thoroughness of the subsurface utility investigation. The
Consultant shall make a reasonable effort to determine the location of the existing
underground utility lines. Irrigation lines, empty conduits, and abandoned utilities will not
be located.
Mapping: The signed hardcopy Topographic Map will be an instrument of service.
Electronic mapping will be completed in an AutoCAD format and can be transferred and
used by others for future projects.
• The mapping is anticipated to be 1” = 20’. BKF will take a series of photographs
for future reference and documentation of current field conditions encountered
during the time of survey.
• The vertical control for the survey will be tied to the North American Vertical
Datum of 1988 (NAVD88).
• The horizontal location and rotation of the mapping is anticipated to be on
California State Plane Coordinates, Zone III based on the North American
Datum of 1983 (NAD83). The mapping will be done in ground distance.
Deliverables: Topographic survey in AutoCAD Civil 3D electronic drawing files (dwg)
9.3 – 60% Storm Drain Design
The Consultant will develop the design for the upsized storm drain on Price Avenue and
prepare construction documents including plans, specifications, and engineer’s cost
estimate to a 60% level of completion. The additional construction documents will be
included in the 60% Initial Design Submittal.
Anticipated plan sheets shall include:
• Demolition Plan;
• Storm Drain Plan and Profile;
• Civil Details;
• Standard MUTCD Traffic Control Details.
ATTY/AGR.2026/Amend.
