Direct staff to proceed with the levee design elevation referred to as the “FEMA + 1” <br />option. <br /> <br />CEQA: <br />This is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) <br /> <br />Motion and second, Gee and Sturken, to: <br />1. Receive an update on the status of the Redwood Shores Sea Level Rise Protection <br />Project; and <br />2. Direct staff to proceed with the levee design elevation referred to as the “FEMA + 1” <br />option. <br />The motion passed unanimously by electronic vote. <br /> <br />10. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> <br />Mayor Martínez Saballos announced the appointment of Council Members Howard, Sturken <br />and Chu to the City Council Sub-Committee on Homelessness, which was formed on August 25, <br />2025 by Resolution 16351. The purpose of the Homelessness Sub-Committee will be to review <br />City policies on homelessness, receive progress reports on the City’s efforts related to <br />homelessness, and submit policy recommendations to the City Council as may be appropriate. <br /> <br />Additionally, Mayor Martínez Saballos announced the formation of the Redwood Life <br />Development Agreement Ad Hoc Committee, and appointed Council Members Chu, Gee and <br />Padilla to the committee. The purpose of the ad hoc committee will be to negotiate the terms <br />of the Redwood Life Development Agreement. <br /> <br /> 10.A. City Council Member Report of Meetings and Conferences Attended <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Eakin noted the ban on use of plastic shopping bags effective January 1, <br />2026 and applicable fines. <br /> <br />Council Member Howard reported on the following: <br />• January 30 screening of the film titled “Designed by Preeti” at the Veterans <br />Memorial Senior Center <br />• February 21 Sweet on the Museum event at the San Mateo County History <br />Museum <br />• February 28 Lunar New Year celebration at Courthouse Square <br />• March 19 Sequoia Awards Banquet at the Fox Theater <br /> <br />Council Member Padilla reported on the January 29 One-Day Homeless Count and <br />February 4 SFO Roundtable meeting that was cancelled due to lack of quorum. <br /> <br /> 10.B. City Council Committee Reports - None
