CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />POLICE LIEUTENANT II (Continued) <br /> <br />7. Conduct inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure proper use and <br />maintenance. <br /> <br /> 8. Coordinate assigned activities with those of other divisions and outside <br />agencies and organizations; maintain and facilitate positive public relations and <br />cooperative working relationships with news media, schools, local organizations <br />and the general public; attend and speak at various community functions and <br />meetings; prepare press releases. <br /> <br />9. Exchange information with citizens; interview citizens regarding complaints or <br />suggestions regarding police services. <br /> <br />10. Provide administrative and technical assistance to higher level staff; prepare <br />and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence. <br /> <br />11. Conduct investigations of citizen and Department personnel complaints as <br />assigned; mediate conflicts between Department personnel and citizens. <br /> <br />12. Assume command of police activities at emergencies until relieved by a superior <br />officer; function as on-site incident commander for major field activities; <br />supervise investigations, interviews, and interrogations in the field; conduct <br />highly complex or sensitive investigations; oversee and participate in the <br />collection and processing of evidence. <br /> <br />13. Maintain and prepare various records and reports. <br /> <br />14. Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new <br />trends and innovations in the field of law enforcement; review new laws and <br />ordinances; participate in training programs to improve professional skills. <br /> <br />15. Evaluate Department training needs and make recommendations; coordinate, <br />develop, implement and monitor training programs for the Department. <br /> <br />16.
