City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
FISCAL IMPACT
The total cost of the radio replacement project is not to exceed $625,000. Funding for this purchase will
be provided through the Police Department’s existing budget. No additional appropriation is requested.
This is a one-time expenditure that will replace equipment that has far exceeded its expected service life
and will significantly reduce maintenance and operational risk going forward.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as defined in CEQA
Guidelines, section 15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or reasonably
foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Public notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with the agenda items being listed, at least 72
hours prior to the meeting.
ALTERNATIVES
This vital public safety communications enhancement is critical, and there is no reasonable alternative
to this action at this time. The City Council may elect not to accept the recommended action and direct
staff to release a Notice Inviting Bids rather than using the NASPO Cooperative Purchasing Agreement.
ATTACHMENTS
Attachment A – Purchase agreement with Metro Mobile Communications
Attachment B – NASPO Cooperative Purchasing Agreement
REPORT PREPARED BY:
Jeff Boyce, Sergeant
jboyce@redwoodcity.org
(650) 780-7143
7.F. - Page 4 of 52
213
