Page 2 of 10 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a resolution initiating proceedings to consider amendments to the Redwood City General Plan and <br />the Stanford in Redwood City Precise Plan for the Stanford Medicine Cancer Center project. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLES <br />Economic Vitality and Healthy Community for All <br />BACKGROUND <br />In 2013, the City Council certified an Environmental Impact Report, adopted a Precise Plan, and approved <br />a Development Agreement for the Stanford in Redwood City campus. The current plan covers a 48-acre <br />industrial area and allows for increased office development, a new street grid, and construction of related <br />amenities and support facilities. <br />In December 2016, through an appeal, the City Council approved Phase 1 of the Precise Plan, upholding <br />the Planning Commission’s approval. Phase 1 included development on Blocks A & B, and a portion of C <br />(See Figures 1 & 2 below), including the following: <br />Demolition of five buildings and retention of three existing buildings <br />Construction of four new office buildings totaling 570,000 sq. ft. consisting of a new net <br />development of approximately 293,350 sq. ft. <br />Project amenities built in Phase 1 include a fitness center, a childcare center, a cafeteria, <br />conference center, and a Central Energy Facility (CEF) <br />All developments in Phase 1 have been completed and are in operation. <br />In December 2023, the Planning Commission approved Phase 2 of the Precise Plan. Phase 2 includes <br />development on Blocks C & E (See Figure 1 & 2 below). <br />Partial demolition of an existing office building and construction of two office buildings, totaling <br />228,039 sq. ft. of office, and 26,077 sq. ft. of amenity space (Block C). Construction of this phase <br />is currently on hold as the proposed amendments would revise a portion of Block C (existing site <br />plan in Figures 1 and 2 below) <br />Demolition of existing office buildings/surface parking lots and construction of a 265,000 sq. ft. <br />square foot medical office building and a 3-level parking structure (Block E).
