P a g e | 21Redwood City Police Department <br />2025 <br />Annual Military Equipment Use Report <br />recognized standards compliance within the Department’s drone program. <br />The total cost of tuition for these courses was approximately $9,663.00. A significant amount of in- <br />house training was also conducted with other members of the UAS team during working hours and on <br />dedicated UAS Team training days. <br />Use of UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) During 2025 <br />The Redwood City Police Department utilized Skydio X10 drones for a total of 608 incidents in 2025, <br />the majority of which were calls for service, but also include some investigation-driven and officer- <br />initiated deployments. The Department first acquired Skydio equipment in June of 2025. <br />There were a total of 1,738 flights on the Skydio X10. A large portion of these were during training, <br />equipment testing, or account for multiple operational flights during a single call for service. <br />Between June and December, the Redwood City Police Department utilized Skydio X10 drones across <br />a broad spectrum of incidents, reflecting full operational integration into daily policing activities. <br />Deployments most frequently supported disturbance-related calls, citizen assists and welfare checks, <br />and suspicious activity incidents, where rapid aerial awareness can significantly enhance officer safety <br />and response effectiveness. The drones were also used in proactive enforcement activity, traffic- <br />related incidents, investigative follow-up, and violent and property crime responses.
