Relocation Assistance Program Summary <br />This information statement is provided as courtesy by the City of Redwood City as a summary of its Relocation Assistance Program. If any <br />discrepancies exist between this and applicable laws and regulations, those laws and regulations shall prevail. <br />Page 6 <br />With federal approval, the City may reimburse a displaced business up to $1,000 or searching <br />expenses with minimal or no documentation as an alternative to the documented searching <br />costs described above. <br />(l)Other Expenses. The following expenses for moving personal property shall be provided if the City <br />determines that they are actual, reasonable, and necessary: <br />i. Connection to available utilities from the replacement site's property line to improvements <br />at the replacement site. <br />ii.Impact fees and one-time assessments for anticipated heavy utility usage, as determined <br />necessary by the agency. <br />iii. Professional services performed prior to the purchase or lease of a replacement site to <br />determine its suitability for the displaced person's business operation including, but not <br />limited to, soil testing or feasibility and marketing studies (excluding any fees or <br />commissions directly related to the purchase or lease of such site). At the discretion of the <br />City a reasonable pre-approved hourly rate may be established. <br />iv.Other moving and related expenses not listed as ineligible as the City determines to be <br />reasonable and necessary. <br />All costs must be actual, reasonable, and necessary. Only those costs that could not have been avoided <br />or substantially reduced at an alternate available site will be considered eligible. This is not an inclusive list <br />of moving related expenses. A Relocation Advisors can help a business owner understand what costs might <br />be eligible before costs are incurred. <br />2.5 Alternative Options for Items Not Moved. At times, occupants find that it is <br />not ideal for them to relocate a piece of personal property. There are several <br />options to be reimbursed for items that are not actually moved. They are briefly <br />described below. A Relocation Advisor can provide clearer direction on these <br />options based on the personal property being addressed. <br />Direct Loss of Tangible Personal Property <br />Substitute Personal Property <br />Compensation for Items of Low Value and High Bulk <br />2.5.1 Direct Loss of Tangible Personal Property. When an occupant chooses not to move an item of <br />personal property and chooses not to replace it at the new location, the occupant may be eligible for <br />a payment for the actual direct loss of tangible personal property.
