Relocation Assistance Program Summary <br />This information statement is provided as courtesy by the City of Redwood City as a summary of its Relocation Assistance Program. If any <br />discrepancies exist between this and applicable laws and regulations, those laws and regulations shall prevail. <br />Page 5 <br />agent or employee) in the process of moving, where insurance covering such loss, theft or <br />damage is not available. <br />(g)Licenses, Permits, and Fees. The actual, reasonable, and necessary costs of any license, permit, <br />fee, or certification that is required to the extent such cost is necessary to the reestablishment of <br />the operation at a new location. However, payment shall be based on the remaining useful life of <br />the existing license, permit or certification. <br />(h)Professional Services. The reasonable cost of any professional service (including, but not limited <br />to, architects’, attorneys’ or engineers’ fees, or consultants’ charges) necessary for the planning <br />of the move of personal property, moving the personal property, or installation of relocated <br />personal property at the replacement site. These expenses must be preapproved by the City. <br />i. Planning the move of the personal property; <br />ii. Moving the personal property; and <br />iii. Installing the relocated personal property at the replacement location. <br />A business owner may elect to work with a move planner. the City will reimburse a business owner <br />for these costs under the following conditions: <br />i. Business works with Relocation Advisors and professional move planners to develop an <br />approved Scope of Services; <br />ii. Business provides the City with two detailed Scope of Services and Fees (including hourly <br />rates) from two professional mover planning companies; <br />iii. The Scope, Fee and Hourly Rate is pre-approved in writing by the City; <br />iv.The professional move planner submits deliverables as directed by the City; <br />v.No fees other than those specifically related to the moving of personal property will be <br />approved for payment; <br />vi.No fees related to developing claim forms will be approved for payment. <br />(i)Signs and Media. Re-lettering signs and replacing stationery on hand at the time of displacement <br />or temporary move, and making reasonable and necessary updates to other media that are <br />made obsolete as a result of the move. <br />(j)Cost to Sell Personal Property. The reasonable cost incurred in attempting to sell an item that is <br />not relocated. <br />(k)Searching for a Replacement Site. Reimbursement of up to $5,000 for time spent searching for a <br />replacement property. Expenses may include transportation, meals, and lodging when away <br />from home; the reasonable value of the time spent during the search. Fees paid to real estate <br />agents or brokers to locate a replacement site may be reimbursed, related time obtaining <br />permits and attending zoning hearing, and time spent negotiating for a replacement site. <br />Expenses negotiating the purchase a a replacement site based on a reasonable salary or fee, <br />including actual, reasonable, and necessary attorney fees. <br />Appendix B to Relocation Impact Memorandum <br />ATTY/RESO.0015/CC RESO APPROVING THE RELOCATION IMPACT MEMORANDUM FOR THE 84/101 REIMAGINED PROJECT - EXHIBIT A <br />REV: 04-20-26 VR <br /> <br /> <br />Page 13 of 34
