City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
Future activations of the Entertainment Zone will result in costs related to staff coordination, public safety
support, materials such as signage, barriers, and other operational supplies. The level of cost will vary
depending on the number, scale, and duration of activations and may be significant. Because activations
are City-initiated and managed, the City retains the ability to control the number and scale of activations
to align with resources. Additional funding may be required to support activations, and staff will return to
the City Council with funding recommendations as needed.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This project is categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to
CEQA Guidelines Section 15304(e), which applies to minor temporary uses of land having negligible or no
permanent effects on the environment. The proposed Entertainment Zones involve temporary use of
existing public rights-of-way and do not include permanent physical improvements or changes to the
environment.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Public notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with the agenda items being listed, at least 72
hours prior to the meeting.
ALTERNATIVES
1. Do not proceed with establishing an Entertainment Zone in the Downtown area
2. Defer consideration of the ordinance pending additional analysis and outreach, noting that it will
then not be in effect prior to the FIFA World Cup games
3.
