Page 1 of 4 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: May 11, 2026 <br />SUBJECT <br />Adoption of an Ordinance establishing one Entertainment Zone in downtown Redwood City <br />SUMMARY <br />This item considers an ordinance to establish one Entertainment Zone on the 2000 block of Broadway <br />and the cross-section of Redwood Creek between Broadway and the Main Street Parking Lot (Broadway <br />Pedestrian Mall). <br />The proposed ordinance provides a framework for City-initiated activation of the Entertainment Zone, <br />allowing for outdoor consumption of alcoholic beverages within defined boundaries and hours, subject to <br />participation by at least one ABC-licensed business and compliance with state law and City guidelines. The <br />Entertainment Zone is designed to support economic activity and activation of public spaces while <br />maintaining strong controls related to public safety, operations, and enforcement. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Waive the second reading and adopt an Ordinance amending Chapter 33B of the Redwood City Municipal <br />Code to establish an Entertainment Zone on the 2000 block of Broadway and the cross-section of <br />Redwood Creek between Broadway and the Main Street Parking Lot (Broadway Pedestrian Mall) <br />consistent with Senate Bill 969 as codified in California Business and Professions Code Section 25692 and <br />miscellaneous related changes. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Economic Vitality <br />Communication and Community Building <br />7.G. - Page 1 of 11 <br />234
