Income self-certification: If a tenant is unable to provide documentation proving <br />income, the City, at its sole discretion, may allow a tenant to self-certify under <br />penalty of perjury that they qualify as an Eligible Residential Household. <br />4. Requirement to provide proof of Special Circumstance status: Tenants applying as <br />special circumstance will be required to provide proof of special circumstance <br />status in addition to providing proof of income. The following documents are <br />accepted as verification documentation: <br />Proof of Special Circumstances Status <br /> <br />Type of Special Circumstance: <br />Examples of verification documentation to include with <br />the application <br />(only one required per special circumstance category): <br />62 years of age or older • Legal document showing age (ex: driver’s license / <br />Identification, birth certificate) <br />Minor under age 18 and legally <br />dependent <br />• Most recent year’s complete income tax return <br />• Legal document showing age of dependent <br />(ex: driver’s license / identification, birth certificate) <br />• Proof of school enrollment <br />Disabled • If needed, documentation verifying disability <br />status (ex: benefits letter or statement, letter from <br />medical provider) <br />Occupied unit for 5 or more years • Copy of lease(s) for the last 5 years <br />• Rental payment history for last 5 years <br /> <br />5. Application Review: The City, or a third-party provider, will review the application <br />and determine the tenant’s eligibility within 10 business days. Notice of the City’s <br />determination will be sent to the tenant and landlord through the online portal, by <br />email and mail. <br />6. Denial of Application and Appeal Process <br />a. If the relocation assistance application is denied, the tenant may appeal the <br />City's denial. <br />b. The tenant must file the appeal with the City Clerk in writing, including any <br />additional information that is relevant for the appeal, within 10 calendar days <br />of the date of notice of the denial. <br />c. All appeals must be filed on the appeal form provided by the City and include <br />all supporting documents. The appeal form can be downloaded at – <br />www.RedwoodCity.org/TPO, under the “Notices and Forms” section.
