Page | 25 <br />5/5/2026 <br />ATTY/DOCS-ORDINANCE-REGULATIONS/05-05-26 TENANT PROTECTION ORDINANCE ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATIONS <br />REV: 05-05-26 LF <br />5.6 Alternative Mitigation to Relocation Assistance Requirements <br />1. Landlords may request an alternative mitigation strategy that meets the goals of the <br />Relocation Assistance Requirements. <br /> <br />2. An example of an alternative mitigation strategy includes, but is not limited to, <br />relocating displaced tenants to similar apartments on-site or at another building <br />owned by the landlord. <br /> <br />3. Alternative mitigation strategy steps: <br /> <br />a. Landlord and tenant must engage in discussions and make good faith efforts <br />to mutually agree on an alternative mitigation strategy. <br /> <br />b. The landlord must submit the alternative mitigation strategy, including <br />evidence of tenant agreement, if any, to the City for review. The alternative <br />mitigation strategy must be submitted through one of the following methods: <br /> <br />i. E-mail: housingrwc@redwoodcity.org (include the Subject: Tenant <br />Protection Ordinance Alternative Mitigation Strategy) <br /> <br />ii. Mail addressed to <br /> <br />1. City of Redwood City <br />Attn: Housing Division <br />1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City CA 94063 <br /> <br />iii. In person at City Hall, 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA 94063 <br />during City Hall business hours. City Hall business hours can be found <br />on the City’s website at https://www.redwoodcity.org/about-the- <br />city/contact-us. Appeals will only be accepted during this time. <br /> <br />c. The landlord must notify the tenants that the alternative mitigation strategy <br />has been submitted to the City. <br /> <br />i. The notice must be sent via regular or certified mail and posted on the <br />door of each rental unit, a copy of this notice and proof of service must <br />be sent to the City. <br /> <br />d. Tenants shall have 14 days from the date notice is posted or mailed, <br />whichever is later, to submit comments on the alternatives to the Assistant <br />City Manager or their designee. <br /> <br />8.A. - Page 46 of 85 <br />304
