3 <br />PRIORITY # 2 – SUPPORTING PERSONS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS <br />Priority Need Supporting Persons Experiencing Homelessness <br />Priority Level High <br />Population Chronic Homelessness <br />Individuals <br />Families with Children <br />Mentally Ill <br />Chronic Substance Abuse <br />veterans <br />Victims of Domestic Violence <br />Unaccompanied Youth <br />Geographic <br />Areas <br />Citywide and low-income census tracts <br />Associated Goals Homelessness Services <br />Description Making homelessness short, rare and non-reoccurring by supporting the work of <br />emergency shelters, creating permanent supportive housing and funding other basic <br />needs. <br />Basis for Priority The latest point in time homeless count shows that Redwood City has a high population <br />of homeless persons and families. <br />PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES <br />Domestic Violence Shelter: Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse (CORA), Address Suppressed. These <br />funds will pay for operation costs of a shelter for victims of domestic violence. $15,000 – CDBG <br />Safe Harbor Shelter: Samaritan House, 295 North Access Road, South San Francisco. These funds will be used <br />to support operating costs for an emergency shelter for homeless individuals. $18,000 – CDBG <br />Spring Street Shelter: Mental Health Association, 2686 Spring Street, Redwood City. These funds will be used <br />to pay operating costs for an emergency shelter for individuals with serious disabling mental illness. $17,250 – <br />CDBG <br />TOTAL HOMELESSNESS SERVICES FUNDING RECOMMENDATION – $50,250 <br />8.B. - Page 118 of 123 <br />461
