Funding recommendations <br />prioritize projects that promote diversity, accessibility, youth engagement, and a wide range of artistic <br />experiences for the community. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve the Arts Commission’s proposed funding recommendations for large grant <br />recipients for FY 2026-27 as provided in Attachment A. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Communication and Community Building <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Arts Commission, on behalf of the City Council, is responsible for supporting and enhancing cultural <br />life in Redwood City. The Arts Commission accomplishes this goal by issuing grants to community <br />nonprofit organizations that support art and cultural activities through criteria developed by the <br />Commission. City funding is allocated through the budget process for these grants. The Arts Commission <br />allocated the following amounts for Fiscal Year 2026- 2027: $55,000 for large grants (i.e. grants over <br />$1,500), $10,000 for small grants (under $1,500), and $8,896 for Commission-sponsored events.
