Attachment B <br />BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF AGENCY FUNDING REQUESTS <br />HSFA APPLICANTS’ FY 2026-2027 <br />Fresh Lifelines for Youth, Inc (FLY) – Law and Leadership Program for Redwood City Youth. <br />FLY’s mission is to prevent juvenile crime and incarceration through legal education, mentoring, and <br />leadership training. FLY will provide its Law and Leadership program to 24 at-risk and system-involved <br />Redwood City youth. Youth ages 14-21 who are at risk of continued or future involvement in the juvenile <br />system gain tools to lead self-sufficient and productive lives. The Program is an innovative law education <br />course taught in 2-hour sessions over 12 weeks by volunteer law and university students, community <br />professionals and FLY staff. <br />Funding Requested $15,000 <br />Recommended Funding $15,000. <br />Friends for Youth – 1-1 and Group Mentoring Programs <br />Friends for Youth (FFY) provides quality mentoring relationships for underserved youth who need support <br />most, with the goal of empowering them to be mentally and behaviorally healthy, emotionally secure, and <br />equipped with resiliency-building skills. Since 1979, they have matched over 3,000 youth with a caring <br />adult mentor in their flagship 1-to-1 Program, with over 90% completing the full one-year program (33- <br />67% for similar programs). Since 2016, they have provided school-based group mentoring to address <br />rising dropout rates for low-income, BIPOC students. <br /> Funding Requested $11,000. <br /> Recommended Funding $11,000. <br />HIP Housing- Affordable Housing Programs <br />Programs include Home Sharing, Self-Sufficiency, Housing Readiness Programs, and properties owned <br />and managed by HIP Housing – preventing homelessness, maintaining housing affordability, and <br />increasing access to housing resources. <br /> Funding Requested $10,000. <br />Recommended Funding $10,000. <br />Immigration Institute of the Bay Area (IIBA) – Supporting Redwood City Immigrant Families. IIBA <br />will provide legal information, advice and assistance for immigrant families in Redwood City with low <br />income, to support them as they make educated decisions about their future and fully integrate into the <br />community. IIBA is offering hybrid services that include in-person, phone and video-conferencing options, <br />as well as community education and outreach efforts, to safely inform local immigrant families about their <br />rights and their immigration legal options, reduce fear in our community, and ensure that residents have <br />access to legal services. <br />Funding Requested $20,000. <br />Recommended Funding $20,000. <br />Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County – Homesavers: Preserving Affordable Housing in our <br />Community. The Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County keeps low-income tenants in their affordable <br />homes by defending them against illegal and unfair evictions through in-court representation and out-of- <br />court advocacy. Legal Aid SMC also educates tenants about their rights and legal protections. They <br />answer dozens of tenant questions each week through their Housing Intake Line and provide in-person <br />services in their Redwood City offices, and in weekly housing clinics in the community.
