Page 4 of 23
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
The GDAP planning area was drawn to include significant areas beyond the Downtown Precise Plan
boundary to ensure that GDAP could address the following critical topic areas, among others:
Creating a holistic vision for the Greater Downtown area to support the ongoing revitalization of
Downtown;
Improved bike, pedestrian, and transit mobility with a focus on supplementing the City’s existing
transportation plan by closing network gaps between Downtown and Redwood City
neighborhoods beyond the GDAP boundary in all directions (see Figure 5);
Climate resilience, especially as related to sea level rise and inland flooding, and;
Development compatibility between the Downtown core and neighboring districts, particularly in
light of the future relocation of the Redwood City Caltrain Station.
The potential boundary amendment under consideration would expand the GDAP boundary to include
several blocks east of Woodside Road primarily in the Friendly Acres neighborhood, but also in the
Redwood Village Neighborhood. The potential expansion area is generally bounded by Woodside Road,
US 101, Douglas Ave, Bay Road, Willow Street, and Spring Street, as shown in Figure 2.
9.A. - Page 4 of 27
531
