Learn why this isimportant
Dear Mayor Martinez Saballos and members of the Redwood City City Council:
Thank you for requesting the supplemental economic and fiscal impact report on the
proposed rent and eviction control ballot measure. The additional analysis was important
because this initiative is much broader than rent control.
The supplemental report confirms that the measure could have significant impacts on city
resources, program costs, affordable housing, older rental housing, repairs, rehabilitation,
utility costs and long-term housing preservation.
I respectfully urge the City Council to place the initiative on the November ballot so voters
can decide. I also urge the council to take a formal position opposing the measure. My
family’s properties pay for the long term care of my mother. Actions that would
detrimentally affect her care would be immoral.
Given the fiscal, administrative and housing impacts outlined in the supplemental report,
the council has a responsibility to protect city resources and consider the long-term
consequences before this measure goes to voters.
Sincerely,
Donald Gambelin
