Page 1 of 4 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: July 27, 2026 <br />SUBJECT <br />Levy of benefit assessments for the tax roll year 2026-2027 for the Seaport Boulevard Landscape <br />Maintenance District <br />SUMMARY <br />Since 2016, the City has levied annual property assessments against commercial properties along Seaport <br />Boulevard and in Seaport Centre for facility maintenance greater than regularly required. The assessment <br />was approved by 100 percent of property owners. The total annual assessment levied has not changed <br />since 2015. The County of San Mateo assesses properties this levy on behalf of the City. The County <br />requires the City to approve a resolution annually that approves the total amount of the levy and <br />authorizes the County to levy the assessments. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a resolution requesting and authorizing the County Controller to levy benefit assessments for the <br />Seaport Boulevard Landscape Maintenance District in the amount of $212,500 and authorizing the County <br />Tax Collector to collect such assessments for the tax roll year 2026-2027. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Seaport Boulevard Landscape Maintenance District (District) was established on July 27, 1987, to pay <br />for the expense of maintaining and operating the stormwater retention basin and landscaping along <br />Seaport Boulevard.
