City Clerk Vonderlinden opened the floor for nominations. <br /> Nomination by Council Member Aguirre to have Council Member Ira serve as Mayor. <br /> There were no additional nominations. City Clerk Vonderlinden requested a motion to <br /> close the nomination period. <br /> M/S Pierce/ Bain to close the nominations period for Mayor of Redwood City. <br /> Nomination carried unanimously by acclamation. Minute Order 09-265 <br /> The new Mayor Jeff Ira then proceeded with the nomination for Vice Mayor. <br /> Nomination by Council Member Foust to have Council Member Aguirre serve as Vice <br /> Mayor. <br /> There were no other nominations for the Vice Mayor position. <br /> M/S Pierce/Gee to close the nominations for Vice Mayor. <br /> Nomination carried unanimously by acclamation. Minute Order 09-266 <br /> C. Comments from newly installed Council Members; <br /> 8. CALL TO ORDER BY THE NEWLY SELECTED MAYOR <br /> A. Nominations and selection of Vice Mayor for a two-year term, conducted by the <br /> Mayor; <br /> B. Comments by Council Members, newly selected Vice Mayor, and Mayor; <br /> Council Member Seybert thanked all the voters and made a commitment to staying <br /> connected and to building relationships. He thanked the Council, Nancy Radcliffe and his <br /> supervisors for their support. In particular he thanked his family. <br /> Council Member Gee thanked the current Council Members and others who inspired him to <br /> run and do the campaign trail. He acknowledged family members in the audience. <br /> Vice Mayor Aguirre thanked her colleagues and said she was both honored and humbled <br /> and thanked staff for all they do. <br /> Mayor Ira thanked his Dad and his daughters and his family in general for the continued <br /> support. Mayor Ira explained that his focus will be on action and enabling everybody to be <br /> part of the solution. He would like people to get involved and make Redwood City an even <br /> better place. <br /> C. Public Comment - none <br /> 9. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. City Council Members' Report of Conference/Meeting Attendance. <br /> 10. ADJOURN- M/S Foust/Bain to adjourn the meeting at 8:15 p.m. in memory of Barbara <br /> Greenalch who passed away today. Her husband Jack Greenalch is a former Council <br /> Member and Mayor of Redwood City. She was Mr. Hartnett's aunt and very close to <br /> the Council Member Foust as well.
