Although access to the Pulgas Ridge Open Space
Preserve would be maintained via the Blue Oak Trail, no ADA-compliant trails would be
accessible during this period. Implementation of SFPUC Standard Construction Measure No. 1
would require the SFPUC's contactor to coordinate with the MROSD and to notify the public,
which could include signage informing the public of trail closures. However, because of the long
duration of construction (possibly up to one year), the closure of ADA-complaint trials providing
access to the Pulgas Ridge Open Space Preserve would be a significant impact on recreation at
this facility.

. Mitigation Measure REC 3a: Preserve Access to Polly Geraci Trail
. Mitigation Measure REC 3b: Post Signage at Cordilleras Trailhead
. Mitigation Measure REC 3c: Post Signage indicating ADA-complaint trails

Impact REC-lg: The Project would physically degrade recreational facilities by removing
or damaging existing recreational facilities directly.

The pipeline would bisect the North Fair Oaks Community Playground. Park facilities within the
right of way that would be directly affected by construction would include two play structures,
concrete pathways, a sand box, and a concrete wall with painted tiles. All of these facilities
would be removed to accommodate pipeline construction. Although the SFPUC' s Standard
Construction Measure No. 10 would require its contractor(s) to restore the ground surface within
the right of way to its general pre-construction condition by regrading, reseeding and repaving of
the affected area, the SFPUC does not intend to replace any recreational structures as part of its
Project proposal. Therefore, the pennanent removal of these recreational structures would
constitute a significant impact on recreational facilities at this location.

.
