<br />5. SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY <br /> <br />A. Proclamation: National Blood Donor Month - Sara O'Brien, Communications <br />Manager, American Red Cross <br /> <br />Mayor Ira presented the proclamation to Ms. O'Brien and he encouraged all to donate <br />blood. Ms. O'Brien provided statistics explaining how blood donations save lives. <br /> <br />B. Proclamation: San Mateo County Historical Association upon the Centennial <br />Birthday of the Old County Courthouse - Diane Rummel, <br />Marketing Director, San Mateo County History Museum <br /> <br />Ms. Rummel was present to receive the proclamation. She announced that on Thursday at <br />3:00 p.m. there would be a kick-off event. She provided some clarifying data on the date <br />the building was completed which was July 1910. Mayor Ira said there is a full schedule of <br />events until July and invited the community to get involved. <br /> <br />C. Proclamation: Recognizing Eight Congregations - Clergy and congregants were <br />be honored from Congregation Beth Jacob, Woodside Road <br />United Methodist Church, Mount Zion Baptist Church, Redeemer <br />Lutheran Church, Kairos Ministries Church of God, Unitarian <br />Universalist Fellowship of Redwood City, St. Peter's Episcopal <br />Church and First United Methodist Church. <br /> <br />Rabbi Jay Miller introduced the item and explained the significance of these first eight <br />congregations completing this training. He acknowledged multiple stakeholders who <br />worked very hard for three years to make this happen. <br /> <br />D. Presentation: Emergency Preparedness - Jim Skinner, Fire Chief and Dave <br />Pucci, Battalion Chief <br /> <br />Battalion Chief Pucci presented a brief overview of the Emergency Operations Center <br />(presentation on file). He provided an update on Citizens Emergency Response Team as <br />well. Various Council Members complimented the progress that has been done on this <br />and how this is a valuable model. <br /> <br />6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />Dee Eva, on behalf of the Historic Resources Advisory Committee, announced they had <br />raised funds needed for the historic tour/pathway and also received a grant from Wells <br />Fargo Bank. Ms. Eva said there will be maps placed throughout the downtown illustrating <br />the route of the historic path. <br /> <br />One Council Member thanked Ms. Eva and staff for their hard work. <br /> <br />Brent Britschgi spoke about Mt. Carmel's 12Sth anniversary.
