The first two quarters of FY 2009-10 <br />Prop. 42 allocations, October 2009 and June 2009, have been delayed and will be paid in May <br />2010. The new page will be <br />used to post advertising deadline reminders, links to new content and web exclusives and new <br />features like reader polls results. <br /> <br />Western City revamped its Web site last summer. Now, the magazine's staff is working to create <br />more dynamic web content through out the month so readers can stay connected. <br /> <br />Just type "Western City magazine" in Facebook's search box to find the fan page. <br /> <br />HUD Extends Federal Main Street Affordable Housing Grant Deadline <br />New Deadline, March 3 <br /> <br />Applications for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HlJD) HOPE VI Main <br />Street Grants Program are due by March 3. With $4 million allocated through this notice of <br />funding availability (NOFA), the program is designed to assist small communities develop <br />affordable housing connected to a Main Street revitalization effort. <br /> <br />Main Street revitalizations, according to HUD, transform older downtown areas, creating <br />affordable rental housing from old commercial office and other buildings. <br /> <br />More information about this program can be found on HUD's Web site at <br />www .hud.aov/offices/olh/oroarams/ohlhooe6/arants/mainstreetl. <br /> <br />The NOFA, as well as related information and application instructions, are available at <br />www.arants.aov. <br /> <br />Drug Free Communities Support Program Funding Available <br /> <br />The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), in partnership with the U.S. <br />Department of Health and Human Services' Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services <br />Administration (SAMHSA), has announced the availability of new Drug Free Communities (DFC) <br />Support Program funding. <br /> <br />Created in 1997, the DFC program, works to establish and strengthen communities, private <br />nonprofit agencies, and Federal, state, local, and tribal governments and entities to collaborate <br />and support community-based efforts to prevent and reduce youth substance use. The latest <br />reauthorization extends the DFC program until2012.The DFC program provides grants of up to <br />$125,000 per year for up to five years, with a 10-year maximum limit. <br /> <br />Program Goals <br /> <br />. Establish and strengthen collaboration among communities; public and private nonprofit <br />agencies; and federal, state, local, and tribal governments to support the efforts of <br />community anti-drug coalitions; and <br />.
